Now for our lab, we need to configure the network settings in the server and we will try to access our pfSense from web.
In case if you have lost track, just a wee reminder of our settings with picture.
pfSense:
IP address: 10.1.1.1/24 (our default gateway).
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Windows Server 2012:
IP address: 10.1.1.10/24 (I am choosing to use IP addresses for our Servers from (.10/24).
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 10.1.1.1 (pfSense IP address)
Configure the settings above as mentioned in the images below.
On the tiny icon in the lower right hand side corner "Network" icon, right click and choose "Open Network and Sharing Center".
Select "Ethernet" and right click. Choose "Properities".
Click on "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
Enter the following details:
IP: 10.1.1.10
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 10.1.1.1
and click OK.
Now open Powershell or Command Prompt. We will confirm that we can ping our pfSense IP which is 10.1.1.1.
Type: ping 10.1.1.1
If we get the screen as below, it is a confirmation that we have communicated with our router for lab.
Now open Internet Explorer and enter the following address in the browser URL space.
URL: http://10.1.1.1/
If you get the following pop up, do not fear as this is a security pop up in IE in Windows Server 2012.
Things to do here:
1. Click the button "Add...".
2. And add the URL http://10.1.1.1/ to the Trusted Sites list.
(Follow steps from the images below).
You will then be redirected to the home page of pfSense.
