Windows Server 2012 Lab - 2 of Part 1

My point here is -
You get the internet from your ISP (cloud in our diagram) to your home router, which is the receiving point.

Now from your router the network distributes to different devices like smart phones, PCs, laptops, Macs or smart home electronics (if you are living in a smart home :)).

And imagine that you have VirtualBox on your computer, and you have some virtual machines (eg:- the ones that I've mentioned in the diagram). These VMs talk to the outside world which is internet with a "Bridged" (virtual) network adapter that we assign in the VM settings. You can only choose internal network adapter for your lab as long as you do not need your VMs to be able to communicate with the internet. It is completely up to your choice. But I guess we may need a bridged connection for our Windows Server 2012 for installing most recent updates.
